A unique bond
u-Smart multi-layer composite pipe consists of an overlapped, longitudinally welded aluminum pipe with an inner and outer layer of high temperature-resistant polyethylene according to DIN 16833. All layers are permanently bonded together by intermediate adhesive layers. A special welding technique ensures high reliability. The aluminum thickness for u-Smart has been specially selected to meet compressive and flexural strength requirements.

With our five-layer composite pipe, we have developed and advanced product that unites the advantages of a metal and plastic pipe and eliminates the disadvantages of both materials at the same time. This offers product advantages that are second to none: The aluminum core is absolutely diffusion tight; it reliably prevents the ingress of oxygen. It compensates and reduces snap-back forces and heat expansion with changes of temperature. The system is designed for easy, safe and fast pipe installation; simply bend, cut to length, bevel, join and press – that’s all!

Excellent long-time rupture strength
The combination of plastic and metal makes u-Smart a permanently reliable system for its use in all common hot and cold water installations. “Internal Pressure-rupture Strength” (see graphic), tests have proven, that u-Smart exceeds the generally required DVGW standards 70 C/10 bar/50 years, by far. Therefore, up to 95 C water temperatures in heating systems are no problem at all. It can further be confirmed that up to 80 bar burst pressure rating for example for the most common size 16 x 2 mm is quite usual
